RegularPosition Title : Early Years Educator 1 Reporting To : Principal of the Centre Summary (Early Years Educator 1 to Early Years Educator 2) The Early Years Educator guides in responding to the needs of young children. She guides the junior educators in creating a secure and quality learning environment for children and models respectful, responsive and reciprocal relationships with them. She is well-equipped to design and implement developmentally appropriate curricula and programmes to support the learning and developmental needs of the children. She establishes relationships and partnerships with families and community stakeholders to provide holistic care and development for young children. Being an experienced early childhood educator, she engages in ongoing professional development and reflective practice, and contributes to fostering a culture of collaboration and collegiality with relevant stakeholders. Key Areas of Responsibility 1. Responsibilities in the Centre · Prompt, consistent and hygienic procedures are followed to ensure cleanliness of rooms and prevention of cross-infection (nappy changing, washing, bedding, storage of personal belongings, etc.). · Facilitate the educational programs and activities in the classroom setting and on fieldtrips. · Document and prepare children’s learning and development · Prepare developmental updates on the infants. · Set up quality learning environments and be responsible for periodically changing the classroom displays, charts, decorations, and learning environment before a new term starts and maintain them in good condition. · Adhere to health, safety, nutritional and hygiene standards and procedures to create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for children to work and play. · Ensure equipment are in working conditions, inspect for potential safety hazards and take corrective actions. · Demonstrate ethical behaviour and professionalism. · Collaborate with colleagues to foster positive workplace relations. · Assist in centre initiatives and programmes like outings, fieldtrips, newsletters etc. · Develop relationships with families to facilitate the continuity of care and learning between home and school · To undertake other related duties when assigned (E.g. Render your support in other classes in the absence of the respective class teacher or when the respective class teacher has been assigned with other duties). 2. Responsibilities to the Children · Build trusting relationships with infants and toddlers and respond to their needs appropriately · Carry out routine care duties with safety and hygiene standards in accordance to SOP. · Attend to all infants and toddlers’ physical care and emotional well-being by responding to and comforting infants and toddlers who are distressed or unwell. · Build responsive, respectful and reciprocal relationships with children through positive interactions that reflects the philosophy and policies of the school, and in accordance with ECDA regulation. · Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for the diversity of social & cultural backgrounds of the children in your care. Qualifications and Training Requirements Either of the following: · Advanced Certificate in Early Years (ACEY) · Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (ACECCE) Career Path for Early Years Track Next Career Advancement -> Early Years Educator 2 (Develop) Considerations for Promotion/ Advancement/ Job Placement · Serve the organization for at least 2 years or 5 years of EC experience · Display exemplary work performance and obtained “B+” and above for latest performance appraisal (annual appraisal or confirmation appraisal where applicable) · Recommended by immediate superior for promotion · Is directly responsible for a children group size of 12 or more for a period of at least 1 year · Participate in any ECDA projects or Centre initiatives · Completed 25 hours of CPD course (with at least one pre-requisite external organized course listed below attended) in a calendar year Suggested Training(s) to complete for Promotion/ Advancement · Complete “Supporting Social and Emotional Development of Infants and Toddlers” · Complete “Observation, Documentation & Assessment in an Infant and Toddler Classroom” · Complete “The Learning and Caring Environment for Infants”Desired start date: 27 November 2024
