[What the role is]

We are seeking a pastry and baking chef to join our teaching team. We are looking for experienced candidates with a passion to create delicious desserts, pastries and bread. Candidates should have a strong background in culinary arts.

[What you will be working on]

You will prepare a wide variety of cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc.

Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus.

Develop curriculum and deliver training programmes based on current industry practices as well as assess students’ performance as individuals and as part of a team.

Provide support to students through coaching and mentoring.

Develop, review and deliver pre-employment training and continuing education curriculum related to one or more of the expertise listed below:

  • Culinary Arts

  • Restaurant Service

  • Pastry and Baking

  • Restaurant Development and Entrepreneurship

  • Food and Beverage Management

  • Food Sustainability and Food Waste Management

Manage the day operations, general administration and procurement for the training restaurants; including sourcing, purchasing, receiving, supplier quality management, storage, and utilisation of food and beverage supplies/products and non-food supplies/products, and maintaining the training facilities equipment/tools.

In addition, you will be required to participate in research, industry projects, and diploma related events and school activities.

[What we are looking for]

  • Proven experience as Pastry Chef, baker or relevant role

  • Great attention to detail and creativity

  • In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition

  • Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field

  • At least 8 years of relevant industry experience in the areas of expertise required above.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in dealing with people of all levels.

  • Familiar with Singapore and regional F&B industry.

  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Good written, communication and presentation skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • A self-starter, agile learner and take personal interest in coaching and mentoring others.

  • Experience in developing a curriculum or providing training in a client-facing environment will be an advantage.
