Mission:

Carry out technical risk analysis of construction risks and natural catastrophe events inherent in the construction of large projects for the underwriting and claims departments together with external clients.

Give advice to underwriters to enable them to better understand the risks they write and hence, reduce the frequency and likelihood of claims for AXA XL.

Key interactions

  •         Report to one of the country’s team leaders, with a transversal reporting line to the Global Risk Consulting Transversal Construction Manager.
  •         Close collaboration with the Global Construction Risk Consulting Team.
  •         Cooperate with Industry Experts from other lines of business, such as property, energy, machinery breakdown and marine.
  •         Interact directly with underwriters, claims handlers and clients.

Responsibilities & Activities

  •          Perform desk top risk analysis for Underwriters, Claims handlers and Clients
  •          Quantify risk exposures through MPL evaluation
  •          Conduct loss prevention audits on site including prospects, underwritten construction project visits and as well as site visits following a claim
  •          Deliver survey Reports and Risk Grading\: prepare loss prevention reports following a visit containing a detailed risk analysis.
  •          Provide on-demand technical assistance for customers
  •          Perform account reviews on behalf of underwriting and attend Underwriting Committee meetings
  •          Contribute to the development of internal technical procedures and standards, with the help of the AXA XL RC technical board
  •          Participate in Underwriting tender bids
  •          Contribute to the training and continuous development of AXA XL Risk Consulting engineers
  •          Offer and discuss innovative products with clients in conjunction with the Innovation and Business Development department

SHARE your talent

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills\: 

  • You have an engineering background with a degree from a major construction or civil engineering school with at least 10 years working experience in the construction domain (as contractor, designer, loss adjuster or external checker).
  • Specialist for Construction Risks, you will also have knowledge of the Singapore and Far Eastern standards (UK standards, Eurocodes, ASTM/AS/NZS ) and past work in the nuclear, industrial and/or renewable energy fields will be an advantage
  • Good team player
  • Excellent analytical skills enabling the role holder to conduct risk assessment using construction plans and specifications as well as during a site visit
  • Excellent communicator\: Able to communicate with people on a construction site, with client management and AXA XL colleagues
  • Excellent report writing capabilities
  • Languages\: Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential, Malay, and other languages are a plus
  • Have worked on heavy civil engineering projects (on-site or design) i.e. tunnels, roads and rails, bridges, etc. locally and/or internationally (APAC).
  • Cross experiences in construction power will be advantageous.
