Role Overview:
As the Senior Analyst / Analytics Specialist for Distribution, you will be responsible for building and maintaining business-critical dashboards, developing semantic models in Power BI, and independently extracting and validating data from the DataHub using SQL. You will play a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making within the Distribution team, uplifting analytics capability, and reducing reliance on manual reporting. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving business problems with data and visualization.
Key Responsibilities:
Dashboard Development:
Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards in Power BI to support Distribution performance management, sales tracking, incentives, and compensation analysis.
Develop the underlying semantic models in Power BI to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and ease of use for business users.
Continuously improve dashboard usability and adoption across the Distribution team.
Data Extraction & Management:
Write and optimize SQL queries to extract data directly from the DataHub and other relevant sources.
Validate and reconcile data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Perform UAT on dashboards designed by the central analytics team.
Identify opportunities to automate data extraction and validation processes.
Business Analytics & Insights:
Partner with Distribution leaders to understand business needs and translate them into analytics solutions.
Provide ad-hoc analysis and actionable insights to support commercial planning, channel performance, and business improvement initiatives.
Proactively identify data, reporting, or process issues and independently develop solutions to address them.
Capability Building:
Share best practices and provide training to uplift Power BI and data extraction skills within the Distribution team.
Act as a subject matter expert for dashboarding and data access.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related).
5+ years of hands-on experience building dashboards and semantic models in Power BI.
Advanced SQL skills with proven experience extracting and manipulating data from large databases (Databricks or similar).
Strong data validation, reconciliation, and documentation skills.
Experience working with business stakeholders to translate requirements into analytics solutions.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience in insurance, financial services, or distribution analytics is a plus.
