Job Description

We are looking for a Contracts Specialist to join our Life & Health (L&H) Reinsurance Contracts team. In this role, you will support reinsurance agreements of PartnerRe L&H across the Asia Pacific region.

Your main responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing reinsurance contracts, providing advice on contract-related issues, and working closely with internal teams to negotiate and finalize business terms. You will also support the Head of L&H Contracts in managing contract risks across the global reinsurance portfolio by conducting contract audits. This role will be based in either Singapore or Hong Kong.

You will be part of a small, highly dedicated team of contract specialists. The core responsibilities of the team include drafting and reviewing reinsurance wordings, advising on contract-related matters, and working with both internal and external stakeholders to negotiate and finalize reinsurance terms. You will also contribute to enhancing our contract tools and developing wording analytics to support continuous improvement. Overall, your tasks and responsibilities will be as follow:

  • Independently drafting and reviewing reinsurance contracts, non-disclosure agreements, addenda, and other related documents to ensure they reflect business intent and comply with corporate standards.
  • Conduct internal audits of reinsurance contracts, identify potential risks, and help maintain strong governance, risk, and control practices related to contract wording and processes.
  • Review and improve reinsurance agreements to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Support the development and implementation of corporate policies related to contracts, ensuring alignment across the organization.
  • Collaborate with Client Partners and other stakeholders in contract negotiations, including direct discussions with clients and brokers.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, advising internal teams on contract drafting, interpretation, legal implications, and best practices in contract management.

Qualifications

Ideally, you bring the following background:

  • Degree preferably in law or (re)insurance studies.
  • 3 or more years of experience in the (re)insurance industry, ideally in claims, product development, or a related;
  • Strong understanding of L&H (re)insurance policy wordings, coverage structures, product features, and associated business processes. Such experience in the Australian market would be a strong asset
  • Proven ability and confidence in drafting (re)insurance agreements with clarity and precision.
  • Experience in servicing, advising, or managing external clients is a strong advantage;
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural environment or with international clients;
  • Excellent command of English, including business and legal terminology. Proficiency in Chinese is a plus
