PURPOSE

This role will be responsible for the delivery of operational and support functions relating to FWD SG investment strategy and FWD Life Business in terms of technical and operational know-how.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Investment Management & Governance

  • Work with Group Office, internal stakeholders and fund managers on the setting up, execution and monitoring of investment policy and other relevant frameworks.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure respective investment mandates given to the fund managers are efficiently managed with adherence to Strategic Asset Allocation (‘SAA”) and Tactical Asset Allocation (“TAA”) limits.
  • Oversee the efficient management of all other investment assets which are not handled by fund managers.
  • Ensure all investment related policies and agreements are promptly updated and regularly reviewed.
  • Provide relevant investment updates in the Risk, Compliance and Investment Management Committee (“RCIMC”).

Investment Operations

  • Ensure proper processes are set up to monitor trade executions and performance of fund managers.
  • Monitor cashflows and ensure sufficient liquidity for trade execution and settlement.
  • Ensure timely transfer of excess cash float (within SLA) to fund managers for efficient management.
  • Liaise with custodians to ensure custody accounts and work processes are duly setup for operational efficiency.
  • Work in external and internal stakeholders on the review and execution of investment agreements with fund managers, ISDA/CSA with banks, custodian agreement and other investment related agreements and contracts.
  • Work with internal stakeholders on necessary investment account opening/closure.
  • Liaise with external auditors on audit requests and queries.
  • Maintain and review Standard Operating Procedures (“SOPs) at regular frequency.

Investment Reporting

  • Oversee investments accounting for all non-linked and investment linked portfolios, covering month-end closing, journal entries, reconciliations, and related data management.
  • Ensure timely regulatory, Group Office and management reporting on investment related financials.
  • Provide timely inputs to Financial Reporting team for year-end Financial Statements disclosures.
  • Liaise with external auditors on investment related audit and queries, including resolution of audit findings.

ILP Operations and Accounting

  • Ensure a framework is in place for selection and removal of ILP sub-funds and fund managers. Ensure that the framework is adhered to.
  • Participate in onboarding of new funds/ILP product launches to provide operations, accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for Finance work stream, where required.
  • Liaise with external auditors on annual ILP audit and ILP funds closure and ensure all audit and reporting requirements are met, including but not limited to MAS307.
  • Oversee daily ILP operations, including trade placements, corporate actions, cashflow management, reconciliations and compliance.
  • Oversee the preparation of semi-annual and annual ILP funds report.
  • Ensure ILP financials are accurate for reporting purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor Degree in Accountancy or any relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of investment operations and investment accounting experience, preferably in insurance, asset management or banking industry
  • Experience in ILP investment operations will be an advantage.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY

  • Proven track record of trade execution and effective delivery of operations functions with minimal occurrence of incidents.
  • Experience in dealing with various investment assets including but not limited to equities, fixed income and derivative instruments.
  • Familiar with regulatory compliance and investment reporting
  • High personal levels of motivation and delivery orientated focus, with good aptitude in decision-making, problem-solving, collaborative, accountable and a broad mind to embrace change with agility and innovative in solutioning.
  • Strong communication skills, thus ability to liaise with and work across departments in order to achieve best outcomes for the business and customer.
  • Good stakeholder management skills
