[What the role is]
NEAβs Waste Management Division (WMD) is responsible for the regulation of the waste management industry and implementation of key initiatives under the Zero Waste Master Plan, to achieve an efficient and sustainable waste-to-resource management system in Singapore.[What you will be working on]
We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team in implementing and managing Singapore's food waste initiatives under the Resource Sustainability Act (RSA). This role offers an opportunity to contribute to Singapore's sustainability goals through the development and implementation of food waste management policies and programmes. Your responsibilities will include the following:
Develop and implement food waste segregation and reporting requirements in accordance with the RSA and its Subsidiary Legislations (SLs)
Engage with industry stakeholders to manage and implement food waste segregation requirements
Review and develop guidelines for food waste segregation and collection processes
Evaluate building plans for compliance with Code of Practice on Environmental Health (COPEH)
Manage projects and initiatives to segregate food waste for treatment and valorisation, and support work on other waste streams
Conduct data analysis and research on Singapore's food waste statistics
Coordinate industry surveys and market research to gather insights on the food waste management sector
Contribute to policy reviews and new initiatives related to food waste management (including infrastructure planning and development projects)
Coordinate and implement activities tasked by internal and external committees and working groups
[What we are looking for]
Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering
Prior working experience in waste management and sustainability industry will be advantageous
Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices
Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Highly self-motivated, mature, independent, and resourceful
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in stakeholder management and engagement
Effective writing and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Competent in data analytics and statistics assessment
Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Words, PowerPoint)
Able to work after-office hours and weekends, if required
