Geologist cum Civil Engineer The successful candidate is expected to provide technical and supervisory leadership as a project geologist and civil engineer.
The Job
Assist the Design Manager in project planning and overseeing specific works on site.
Manage all soil investigation works, TBM works. Cross passage works, Ground Improvement works as a project geologist
Manage various construction works as a civil engineer
Responsible for dealing with consultant, authorities and client and for subcontractor management
Planning of executive work schedule based on contract schedule for responsible area
Highlight technical issues and update Construction Department on changes and inform vendors, engineers and supervisors
Plan and execute geotechnical and instrumentation installation and monitoring works
Site evaluation of soil, rock, fault distribution and geological studies on site to determine their engineering properties
Liaise and coordinate with instrumentation contractor for installation and monitoring issues
Update instrumentation drawings
Conduct interpretation of actual soil conditions and test results and oversee all excavation works (shaft, TBM, Cross passage, GIW etc)
Experience in bored tunneling, mined tunneling and deep excavation projects of similar scale, nature and complexity, with experience of similar sedimentary deposits and ability to work under compressed air
With a degree in Civil Engineering recognized by the PE Board or qualification / Degree in the relevant field subject to the acceptance of the SO
Prior experience in working in construction site, especially in civil projects.
Strong organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to influence various stakeholders and build long-term relationships
Ability to lead and supervise Construction staff
Strong technical knowledge in current construction technologies
Strong understanding of general construction methods
Strong knowledge of local regulation and engineering standards
Very familiar with MS, Primavera and other software to develop construction schedule
Strong time management skill with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to analyse and synthesize complex issues quickly and provide counter measures to resolve issues
Physically fit and healthy for tunnel-related work (for excavation and in-tunnel works)
Willingness to travel to site office located in the East
