Responsibilities:
Plan, design, implement, and manage the university’s enterprise network infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability in support of academic, research, and administrative functions.
Monitor network performance, proactively identify issues, and carry out timely troubleshooting and optimization to maintain service continuity and quality.
Implement and maintain robust network security measures, enforce access controls, and ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity standards and institutional policies.
Lead network-related projects and infrastructure upgrades, including the deployment of new technologies, by coordinating with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures, to support troubleshooting and future planning.
Manage vendor relationships, monitor service level agreements (SLAs), and participate in the evaluation and procurement of network solutions and services.
Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and administrative departments to understand connectivity requirements and provide expert advice and solutions to meet evolving user needs.
Support budget planning and monitor the efficient use of allocated resources for network operations and projects.
Maintain and share technical knowledge and best practices to promote operational excellence, continuity, and cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
At least 8 years of relevant experience in managing and administering campus or enterprise networks, including switches, routers, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls.
Strong knowledge of network architecture, protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), enterprise-grade network equipment, and network security practices.
Proficient in network performance tuning, troubleshooting, and the use of monitoring and diagnostic tools.
Experience with network automation using tools and scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, Perl, or REST APIs.
Proven ability to manage vendors and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
Project management experience in planning and delivering network initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical users.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of implementing practical and effective solutions.
