The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Join the laboratory of Dr Cyrus Mostajeran at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. We are seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to the research agenda of the project β€˜Geometric Optimization and Design in Learning and Robotics'.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Obtaining rigorous mathematical results at the interface of optimization, geometry, and data science

  • Designing, implementing, and testing algorithms

  • Engaging in scientific exchange with collaboration partners of the project

  • Preparing reports, scientific papers, and presentations

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science, or a closely related field of engineering

  • Research experience in one or more of the following: geometry, optimization, dynamical systems, mechanics, probability and statistics, data science, machine learning

  • Evidence of potential for excellence in research

  • Enthusiasm for applying advanced mathematical tools and techniques to applications including robotics

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in the use of programming languages and interest in the implementation of algorithms relevant to the project
