Senior/Engineer (Digital Fabrication & Additive Manufacturing Centre) / School of Engineering (2-year contract)
[What you will be working on]
- Utilise advanced CAD tools, including Creo, SolidWorks, and Siemens NX, to conceptualise, design, and optimise components and systems that meet performance, quality, and cost targets.
- Lead and manage design projects across a variety of manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Provide expert guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment
- Develop innovative design strategies to solve complex engineering challenges, with a focus on functionality and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists and engineers across varying centres and procurement, to ensure efficient product development and delivery.
- Provide expert guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in design methodologies, materials, and manufacturing technologies to enhance project outcomes.
- Mentor students on research projects, providing guidance and support to help them achieve academic and professional goals.
[What we are looking for]
- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in engineering design or product development.
- Experience in additive manufacturing (AM) technologies is a plus.
- Strong knowledge and experience in design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) principles and practices
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a track record of process optimisation.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare detailed technical reports and deliver presentations
