We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Laser Manufacturing Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our laser manufacturing department. The ideal candidate will have expertise in laser cutting, engraving, welding, or additive manufacturing processes, with strong leadership skills to manage a team of technicians. This role ensures production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coordinate, and lead laser technicians on the production floor.
- Oversee laser operations including subassembly, alignment and testing.
- Plan and prioritize production schedules to meet customer orders, deadlines, and quality requirements.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and ISO standards.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing problems and recommend process improvements for greater efficiency and reduced downtime.
- Train and develop team members in laser build/repairs and maintaining quality standards.
- Inspect materials and finished products for adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance teams on product development and process optimization.
- Maintain production records, reporting metrics such as quality, scrap rates, downtime, and output.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives within the department.
- Manage inventory of indirect materials, consumables, and finished goods related to laser operations.
- Address personnel issues including timekeeping, performance reviews, and discipline where necessary.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of laser systems (fiber lasers, CO₂ lasers, YAG lasers, etc.) and their applications in manufacturing.
- Leadership Skills: Strong ability to supervise, coach, and motivate a diverse team.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with excellent troubleshooting skills for machinery and process issues.
- Quality Focus: Familiarity with quality assurance processes, including inspection methods and documentation.
- Communication Skills: Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and enforcing safety protocols.
- Technical Tools: Proficiency with manufacturing software (ERP/MRP systems), CAD/CAM basics, and Microsoft Office Suite.
